Australia and New Zealand’s largest influencer marketing business, Social Soup, has launched its own influencer authenticity technology which utilises AI-powered verification and advanced barcode scanning to drive in-store product trials.
Scan & Collect is state-of-the-art software built by Social Soup to bridge the gap between digital communication and physical action for influencers and social creators. It was developed to streamline and authenticate campaign activity, and has already been used for brands including Simply Chips, Ovaltine Sleep and Dolce & Gabbana.
Consumers go to specific in-store locations and using the Scan & Collect technology, the product and location are verified, unlocking payments and vouchers. This creates a large network of people with real-life product experiences.
The data from, and impact of, the campaigns using Scan & Collect technology saw Social Soup named as a finalist in the recently announced AiMCO Influencer Marketing Awards for ROI and best use of data.

Social Soup founder and director, Sharyn Smith, said: “We are excited to announce the launch of our very own – and original – Scan & Collect technology, which we’ve used with a few campaigns now and generated great results. It really is a gamechanger for our business and for our client’s campaign outcomes.
“When people see, hear, touch or feel something first-hand, they are far more likely to buy it and advocate for it. Scan & Collect makes it easier to not only get products and product trial in the hands of influencers and consumers, but to authentically track, communicate and report on these transactions.
“The backbone of our system is our state-of-the-art technology. AI-powered verification, along with advanced barcode scanning, facilitates genuine in-store trials. Coupled with our cutting-edge fraud detection technology, we deliver dependable, real-time scan rates and KPIs. This innovative blend of technology, strategy, and authenticity is what makes Scan & Collect such an innovation in influencer marketing,” she said.
Social Soup is part of the fast-growing marketing and strategic consulting business, The Influence Group, which also owns the strategic consulting and insights company Pollinate.
