Cohere, a Canadian AI startup, has raked in $450 million in funding from returning investors Nvidia and Salesforce Ventures. The funding round also includes new investors such as Canadian pension fund PSP Investments and Cisco, according to a report by Reuters.
With this, Cohere concludes the first tranche of their monthslong fundraising efforts.
The company is still in discussions with investors to rake in more funds in the same round at a $5 billion valuation. This funding round showcases a significant jump in Cohere’s valuation after their last private raise, which was valued at $2.2 billion from investors like Inovia Capital.
Cohere is in competition with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Mistral. These competitor companies also have raised billions of dollars from strategic investments from investors, including Microsoft, Google, and Amazon.
