Synamedia, a leading innovator in video software solutions, has unveiled Quortex Switch, a groundbreaking SaaS-based multi-CDN management tool designed to optimize streaming costs, enhance quality, and improve reliability. As the first solution of its kind built on the latest content steering standards, Quortex Switch simplifies multi-CDN architecture, intelligently routing users to the best available content sources without the need for proprietary client-side code. This standards-based approach enables seamless communication between video players and content steering servers, supporting mid-stream switching across multiple CDNs for an uninterrupted viewing experience.
Making its debut at The NAB Show 2025 in Las Vegas (April 5-9), Quortex Switch joins Synamedia’s award-winning Quortex portfolio. This standalone solution is compatible with any CDN provider, including Synamedia’s Fluid Edge private CDN. By enabling dynamic traffic balancing and intelligent content delivery, Quortex Switch eliminates inefficiencies associated with traditional CDN switching methods.
Quortex Switch provides content providers with an intuitive way to manage complex video streaming infrastructure. The tool allows for configurable balancing rules based on audience segmentation, ensuring efficient traffic distribution and improved service reliability. With Quortex Switch, providers can optimize content delivery using QoE metrics, tailor streaming based on geographic location, and assign dedicated CDNs to specific viewer segments. This data-driven approach enhances uninterrupted streaming experiences while enabling rapid disaster recovery when necessary.

Beyond performance improvements, Quortex Switch helps content providers control costs by leveraging balancing decisions to optimize CDN usage commitments and pricing structures. This prevents unnecessary expenses related to unused capacity and excessive fees. Additionally, Quortex Switch allows providers to incorporate energy usage considerations into their decision-making, making video streaming more sustainable and cost-efficient.
Synamedia’s team of expert engineers actively contributes to the development of global content steering standards in collaboration with industry organizations such as the DASH Industry Forum (DASH-IF), the Streaming Video Technology Alliance (SVTA), and initiatives like Common Access Tokens (CAT) and Common Media Client Data (CMCD), all of which played a role in the creation of Quortex Switch.
“Content providers tell us that scaling video delivery is the single biggest challenge they face, yet they still rely on inefficient proprietary software and complex custom integrations, as well as the use of inadequate protocols such as DNS redirection,” said Julien Signes, EVP, Video Network, Synamedia. “By combining intelligent traffic management, real-time QoE insights provided by Mux, and sustainability-focused cost control, Quortex Switch delivers a more resilient, scalable streaming experience.”
