Apple to Gain OpenAI Board Observer Role

Apple Inc., an American multinational corporation and technology company, will gain an observer role on OpenAI’s board through the strategic business agreement announced last month. This alliance will strengthen the ties between the two companies. Phil Schiller, Apple’s former marketing chief and current head of the App Store, was appointed to the position.

This collaboration builds on Apple’s June announcement to incorporate ChatGPT into its devices, including iPhone, iPad, and Mac, highlighting Apple’s broader AI strategy. This role aligns Apple with Microsoft, OpenAI’s major backer. It allows Apple to attend board meetings without voting rights.
