Salesforce’s Agentforce platform is taking efficiency to new heights by introducing a smarter way to track and summarize record updates using Flex prompt templates powered by Einstein Generative AI. This capability helps service and sales teams eliminate repetitive manual work by drawing on data from past cases, recent purchases, product changelogs, and real-time case notes.
Beyond its standard out-of-the-box features, Agentforce allows developers to use Einstein Generative AI and Prompt Builder to create tailored solutions for unique business scenarios. One example is the challenge faced by sales representatives who must review frequent changes to Account and related records – a time-consuming task that typically involves opening and reading multiple entries. Flex prompt templates streamline this process by automating record comparisons and generating clear, human-readable summaries.
Creating a Flex Prompt Template for Record Change Summaries
To get started, developers can sign up for a Salesforce Developer Edition org and enable Generative AI. Once activated, access Prompt Builder via Setup, select New Prompt Template, and choose Flex as the template type. After naming it “Summarize Records Changes” and adding a description, users can define flexible input fields such as “Original Record,” “Updated Record,” and “User Who Changed the Record” – all with free-text data sources.

Automated, Readable Updates for Every Change
With the template in place, the system automatically compares the old and new versions of a record whenever updates occur. It then generates a concise summary stored in the Record Summary field, giving sales teams instant insight without navigating complex history logs.
This approach eliminates the need for time-intensive Apex coding by enabling flow-based JSON comparisons, saving developers valuable hours. For sales representatives, the automatic version history means more time spent on client engagement and less time digging through past records.
