Amazon unveiled Amazon Lens Live, an advanced upgrade to its visual search tool that makes product discovery faster, smarter, and more interactive. Powered by AI, Lens Live allows shoppers to instantly scan items, find real-time product matches, and access helpful insights directly from Amazon’s AI shopping assistant, Rufus.
With Lens Live, the moment customers open the Amazon Lens camera in the Amazon Shopping app, it begins scanning their surroundings to identify products in real time. Matching items appear instantly in a swipeable carousel, making it easy to compare options. Customers can also tap an item in the camera view to refine results, add products to their cart with the “+” icon, or save them to their wish lists with the heart icon—all without leaving the camera experience.
To further enrich discovery, Lens Live integrates directly with Rufus, Amazon’s AI shopping assistant. While browsing, customers are presented with suggested questions and concise summaries that highlight a product’s key features. This conversational guidance enables faster research and more confident purchasing decisions, bridging the gap between visual discovery and informed shopping.

Currently available to tens of millions of U.S. iOS customers, Lens Live will expand nationwide in the coming months. Customers still have the flexibility to use existing Amazon Lens features such as capturing a photo, uploading an image, or scanning a barcode.
The AI Technology Behind Lens Live
Lens Live is powered by AWS services including Amazon OpenSearch and Amazon SageMaker, enabling scalable deployment of advanced machine learning models. On-device computer vision models detect and track products instantly as customers move their cameras, reducing friction and enhancing usability. Meanwhile, a deep learning visual embedding model compares what the customer sees against billions of Amazon products, surfacing exact or highly similar matches in seconds.
The integration of Rufus adds a new layer of intelligence, delivering relevant product questions, answers, and recommendations in real time. Together, these innovations transform Amazon Lens into a dynamic, AI-driven shopping tool that helps customers discover, evaluate, and purchase products faster than ever before.
