Western Union Media Network Partners with Magnite to Power Advertising Expansion Across Streaming and Owned Media
Magnite, the world’s largest independent sell-side advertising platform, announced a strategic agreement with Western Union to accelerate the growth of the financial services leader’s new Media Network. As part of this collaboration, Magnite will support both sides of Western Union’s advertising ambitions—empowering it to buy media as an advertiser and monetize its owned and operated digital properties.
In a first-of-its-kind move, Western Union Media Network becomes the inaugural commerce media company to adopt Magnite’s ClearLine solution, giving it direct access to premium streaming inventory. ClearLine streamlines the buying process by enabling brands to purchase ad-supported connected TV (CTV) inventory directly from publishers, allowing Western Union to maximize its working media investment. Magnite currently reaches 92 million U.S. CTV households, representing 9 out of 10 ad-supported CTV homes nationwide.
With Magnite’s comprehensive technology stack, Western Union Media Network is unlocking the full value of its owned media properties, including its website (westernunion.com) and its mobile apps on iOS and Android. These platforms collectively reach more than 15 million customers across the U.S., creating high-value, direct-to-consumer advertising opportunities across web, mobile, and in-app environments.
In addition, Western Union is leveraging Magnite’s Curator Marketplaces for self-service audience extension, enabling brands to reach diverse, multicultural audiences using anonymized transaction data. This approach combines Western Union’s first-party insights with Magnite’s premium inventory, delivering a powerful blend of precise audience targeting and efficient programmatic buying.

To further enhance campaign performance and media efficiency, the two companies have also signed a Supply-Path Optimization (SPO) agreement—ensuring Western Union benefits from a more streamlined, cost-effective, and transparent access to curated omnichannel inventory.
“Magnite’s expansive technology and service offerings make them a versatile partner that can help address our desire to grow our business,” said Chris Hammer, Senior Vice President, Western Union. “We are excited to see this collaboration continue to grow as we scale our Media Network business.”
“We’re proud to support Western Union Media Network’s entry into advertising by helping them activate efficiently on all fronts,” said Stephanie Reustle, Head of Commerce Media at Magnite. “It’s great to see the advanced technology we’ve built for publishers and advertisers providing value to clients in new fields. We’ve seen the firsthand benefits of bringing sellers and buyers closer together and helping commerce media brands integrate into the landscape will bring additional advantages for all.”
This milestone partnership marks a significant step for both companies—further cementing Magnite’s role as a key enabler in the evolving commerce media ecosystem, while positioning Western Union Media Network to deliver data-driven, omnichannel campaigns at scale.
