Meta is excited to announce the support for additional reminder ad features via the Instagram Marketing API, effective August 19, 2024. Previously, developers faced limitations in creating Instagram reminder ads with some features only accessible through Meta Ads Manager. This discrepancy led to friction for partners and their clients who wanted to utilize the full potential of reminder ads.
After listening to feedback from our developer community, we have worked to achieve parity between the Meta Ads Manager and the Marketing API. The following new features are now available:
- Reaching Instagram Reels Placement: Developers can now deliver reminder ads to Instagram Reels, in addition to Feed and Stories placements.
- Timing Flexibility for Reminders: Developers can configure the precise timing of reminders based on event start time and date.
- Adding Events to Ads Optimizing for Thruplay or Reach: Ads optimized for thruplay or reach can now include events, allowing users to view relevant details and set reminders directly from the ad’s in-app browser.

About Instagram Reminder Ads

Instagram reminder ads can now be shown in Instagram Reels placements via the Instagram Marketing API. This update expands the reach of reminder ads beyond Feed and Stories, allowing developers to tap into the growing audience of Reels.

Developers can now adjust reminder delivery times more precisely, ensuring that notifications reach users at the optimal moment, based on event start times and dates.
About Adding Events to Thruplay or Reach Ads
With this update, event information can now be included in ads optimized for thruplay or reach. Users can see event details and set reminders directly within the ad, improving the overall ad experience.
