Zip, the world’s leading intake-to-procure solution, announced the appointment of Ed Sawma as VP of Marketing. Sawma brings more than 15 years of expertise leading go-to-market functions for some of the world’s most successful technology brands, including Motorola, Microsoft and Okta. Sawma will be responsible for building and leading a world-class marketing team to support Zip’s rapid growth by elevating Zip’s presence in the market and accelerating the sales pipeline. He will oversee product marketing, revenue marketing, marketing operations, partnerships, and corporate marketing and communications. Zip recently announced its $43 million Series B at a $1.2 billion valuation, achieved in less than two years since the company’s 2020 founding.
“Ed’s broad go-to-market experience ranging from early- and growth-stage startups to public companies with over $1 billion in revenue will be instrumental as we continue to quickly scale the business,” said Rujul Zaparde, co-founder and CEO of Zip. “He is a consummate team player who brings an operational mindset to driving customer awareness and adoption. Ed’s proven track record establishing high-performing marketing organizations equips us to tap into the massive opportunity to transform how business purchases are made by companies around the world.”
Prior to Zip, Sawma led product marketing globally for multiple infrastructure, application, services and cloud businesses at Motorola, Microsoft and Okta. He began his career in IT consulting with a focus on system integration in financial services and Wi-Fi security. Notably, he played a significant role in bringing Okta to over $100 million in revenue. He then helped launch and scale Okta Customer Identity, which became its own more than $100 million business – growing faster than the core business itself. Sawma most recently led operations and marketing at Transposit, where he built a top-tier marketing team and established the company’s awareness and lead generation engine. His skill in scaling inbound pipeline generation and building a repeatable new product introduction process will support Zip’s robust roadmap of new features and products.

“Zip’s market traction and product velocity are impossible to ignore. The company also has one of the most excited, engaged customer bases I’ve seen in my career. I immediately recognized the incredible opportunity to bring products that take all the pain out of procurement processes to every industry imaginable,” said Sawma. “From a culture standpoint, Zip goes to great lengths to ensure everyone on the team feels represented and can bring their full selves to work, while respecting everyone’s need to be a whole person outside of work. It’s an amazing time to join this collaborative, high-caliber team at such a pivotal stage of the business.”
